Design an order relay service in front of a broker API

Clients send buy and sell orders with a deadline to your service, which forwards them to a third-party broker, tracks each order until it fills, and cancels whatever has not filled by its deadline. Cover the order state machine, polling versus callbacks, retries and what happens when the broker is slow or down.
